Laurie graduated with a B.A. in Social Sciences from California State University San Marcos, completed her teaching credential at National University, and received her M.Ed. from The College of William & Mary. She taught high school Social Studies and is now the Director of Student Services & Programming in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics at California State University San Marcos. She is a lecturer for First Year Programs at CSUSM and has started working with the Anthropology department to enhance their Ethnobotany Garden and related programming. She is actively involved in outreach, student success and retention, coordinates the annual Super STEM Saturday event, and serves as the advisor for the Veterans & Affiliated Students Organization.
Laurie spent 13 years as a military spouse and upon their return to Oceanside, she discovered Ivey Ranch when her daughter needed to complete volunteer hours for Girl Scouts. She joined her daughter in 2012 and is involved in programming for special events, fundraising, and can frequently be found taking photos around the Ranch for our social media sites. She rides weekly and loves the inclusive and welcoming community that Ivey Ranch offers.
