Sponsor Our Horses and Cats, or Donate a Horse

Your generosity keeps our herd — and our mission — moving forward.

Behind every rider’s milestone is a horse that made it possible. At Ivey Ranch, our therapy horses are the heart of our programs — carefully chosen, expertly cared for, and deeply loved. Whether you’d like to sponsor one of our existing horses, support our barn cats, or donate a horse to the program, your contribution makes a direct and lasting difference in the lives of riders with special needs, veterans, and families in our community.

    Sponsor a Horse

Our therapy horses give everything they have — every session, every rider, every day. Sponsoring a horse for one year covers its essential care while allowing our lesson income to support tack, therapeutic equipment, instructors, and facility operations. It’s one of the most direct ways to fuel what happens in our arena.

    Donating a Horse

If you are considering placing your horse with Ivey Ranch, we are honored by your trust. A donated horse becomes part of something truly meaningful — helping riders with disabilities, veterans, and at-risk youth experience the healing power of horsemanship, often for the very first time. Because of horse owners like you, that becomes possible.

The Evaluation Process

If your horse seems like a good fit, here is what to expect:

  • null
    Share What You Have
Registration papers, health records, photos, and videos all help us get to know your horse before we meet.
  • null
    Site Visit
We will arrange a visit to evaluate your horse both in-hand and under saddle.
  • null
    90-Day Trial
We require a 90-day trial period at Ivey Ranch to ensure your horse is happy, safe, and well-suited to our therapeutic environment.

Suitability & Requirements

Our horses work closely with riders of varying needs, supported by leaders, side-walkers, and a rotating team of volunteers throughout each day. To ensure every horse thrives in our environment, we look for the following:

  • Soundness — Sound in all four limbs with a rhythmic, cadenced, free-moving stride at the walk, trot, and canter.
  • Vision — Full and complete vision is required.
  • Age — Ideally between 8 and 18 years old. We invest significant training in every horse and hope they will be with us for many years, though exceptions are always considered.
  • Temperament — Comfortable being handled by multiple people daily, including leaders and up to two side-walkers per session.

Ready to make a difference for one of our horses or cats?

Whether you’re sponsoring, donating, or just have questions, we’d love to hear from you.
