Samantha began volunteering at Ivey Ranch in the fall of 2011, specifically within the equestrian department. Through her dedication and commitment as a volunteer, she transitioned into employment as a PATH Registered Level Instructor. Throughout her time at Ivey Ranch, she has gained experience across multiple programs, including the Equestrian Center, the On-Site Care Program, and In-Home Respite Care. Ms. Chico earned her Bachelor of Arts in Human Development with a minor in Criminal Justice Studies from California State University San Marcos in 2015, followed by her Master of Social Work from the same institution in 2020. She brings over 15 years of experience supporting children, youth, and families in a variety of professional roles. During her work at Ivey Ranch, Samantha has supported children and adults with physical, social-emotional, and mental health challenges. She has successfully integrated her passion for human services with equine-assisted practices, facilitating Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) programs for at-risk youth, individuals in dual-diagnosis treatment, and others requiring intensive levels of support. She continues to teach therapeutic and able-bodied equestrian lessons and supports the intake process on a weekly basis. In 2025, Samantha obtained her Clinical Social Work License (LCSW). She aspires to continue integrating horsemanship with therapeutic intervention to support healing, personal growth, and the development of a strong sense of self.
