Ivey Ranch Park Association has received a grant from The Latham Foundation to launch Beyond the Barn: Building Compassion Through Horses, a new humane education and service-learning program for children, families, and community members.
What Is Beyond the Barn?
Beyond the Barn grows out of our miniature horse outreach program. For years, our miniature horses have visited schools, community groups, and care settings, and we’ve seen how quickly people open up around them. Beyond the Barn builds on that by giving participants a structured way to explore the link between kindness toward animals and compassion toward each other.
How the Program Works
Participants will take part in:
- Visits from our Compassion Ambassadors. Our miniature horses lead the way, bringing the program to the community.
- Hands-on equine care. Grooming, feeding, and caring for horses teaches responsibility in a practical, memorable way.
- Inclusive volunteer opportunities. Participants of all abilities can contribute at the ranch.
- Community service projects. Participants put what they learn into action beyond the barn.
Throughout the program, participants will build empathy, responsibility, and respect for all living beings.
Thank You, Latham Foundation
We’re grateful to The Latham Foundation for investing in this program and in the next generation of compassionate kids and adults. We’ll share more as Beyond the Barn gets underway.
