September 2026 Horse and Volunteer Spotlight: Amylynn and Ardmore

Volunteer Spotlight: Amylynn

Amylynn has been volunteering at Ivey Ranch for almost two years and has put in a little over 300 hours. She works primarily in lessons, but she’s happy to help with any chore that needs doing.

Her favorite part of volunteering is getting to know and work with the people and the horses. She has learned a lot along the way and can now lead any horse with confidence. The gratitude from students, and the progress she sees and gets to be part of, keep her coming back week after week.

She especially loves any time she gets to spend with Ardmore, a horse whose long hair means there’s always plenty of grooming to do.

Horse Spotlight: Ardmore

Sponsored by Nancy Russian-Rodriguez

Ardmore is a 25-year-old Gypsy Vanner who joined the Ivey Ranch herd in February 2024. He was imported from Ireland as a young horse, which makes him one of three program horses at the Ranch who have flown on an airplane.

Sturdy and strong, Ardmore is an excellent fit for many of our therapeutic riding students. He also has a big following of fans who love brushing his long hair. Like all horses, Ardie enjoys a treat (or two), but what he really appreciates is a good scratch, even better if you have long nails.

Spend Time with the Herd

Volunteers like Amylynn help with lessons, grooming, and barn care every week, and horse sponsors help cover the daily care of horses like Ardmore.
