At Ivey Ranch Park Association, we believe that growth doesn’t have an expiration date. Our Adult Day Program (ADP) is built on that belief — offering adults with developmental disabilities a welcoming, structured environment where they can learn, connect, and thrive every single day.
A Program Designed Around the Whole Person
The ADP runs Monday through Friday, with SDRC-approved curriculum hours from 10am to 3pm, plus extended care available until 6pm. But what happens in those hours goes far beyond a simple schedule. Participants engage in functional skills training, vocational development, independent living practice, and meaningful community outings — all tailored to support individual growth at each person’s own pace.
Life Skills That Actually Matter
From cooking and kitchen safety to laundry, grocery shopping, and money management, participants practice the skills that build real independence. Activities focus on fine motor skills, communication, and critical thinking, while language and literacy activities, sensory exploration, and fitness round out a full and varied daily experience.
Getting Out Into the Community
One of the things that sets Ivey Ranch’s ADP apart is its commitment to community integration. Every participant goes on outings — two to three times per week — to places like the beach, the library, local parks, museums, farmers markets, and more. This month, participants explored a local slot canyon, visited the beach, and picked their own strawberries at the fields in Carlsbad. These aren’t field trips — they’re opportunities to practice real-world skills in real-world settings.
A Place Like No Other
Because the ADP is set on a working ranch, participants also enjoy something most programs simply can’t offer — time with the horses. Whether visiting the stables, participating in Grooming Gang, or simply spending time with the animals, that connection to the ranch is woven into daily life in a way that is genuinely unique.
Families consistently describe the ADP as a place where their loved ones feel known, valued, and cared for — by staff who are compassionate, consistent, and genuinely invested in each participant’s wellbeing.
